SOCIAL & LEADERS EVENING

7.30pm Thursday 23 February 2012
Glancynon Inn Hirwaun

We have arranged a social & leaders evening to plan our summer programmes and social events for the coming months.
Please do try to attend as it is not all about planning our programmes but a chance to get together and socialise with friends.
There will be a 'Welsh' flavour to the evening with a number of our members providing various forms of Welsh produce to sample, but sorry,
no Penderyn whisky on offer!
We will also be giving out further information on our weekend away at Bakewell in the Peak District.

PEAK DISTRICT

Weekend Away
April 2012 Bakewell

Our 1st weekend away for 2012 is just around the corner
Friday 27th to Monday 30th April

Chris & I recently spent a couple days away reconnoitred the walks and the very suitable watering holes of Bakewell (the ancient capital of the peak).
The town is a very busy place which is well geared up for walkers and for those who like to window shop, there are lots of very interesting shops and plenty of cafes and tea shops.

Each Monday there is a Farmers Market & also a market in the square, which was particularly busy when we were there. And as for the 'Bakewell Pudding Shops', well there are three who all state that they are the original!

We have put together some lovely walks to give a flavour of the area. There is wonderful riverside walking along the banks of the Wye and Lathkill Dale. The well marked footpaths will allow us to visit Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House as well as an old favourite of ours the village of Youlgreave. While the short walk planned for the Monday morning will take in the Monsal Trail.
All our walks will start at 10pm from the visitor information centre in Bakewell.

If anyone has not booked and wishes to join us can I urge them to do so ASAP, as Bakewell is the most popular place for visitors to the Peak District, which means accommodation tends to be booked up quickly.
